Studio portrait of 1706 Private William Henry Freeman (seated), 20th Battalion of Clyde, NSW. A labourer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Kanowna (A61) on 19 June 1915. He was one of 23 other ranks killed in action at Bois-Grenier, France, on 5 May 1916 by German bombardment of trenches in the Bridoux Salient. He was aged 29. He is buried in the Brewery Orchard Cemetery, Bois-Grenier, France.
