Description
Studio portrait of 28118 Gunner John Phillip Morgan, 5th Divisional Ammunition Column (later 36th Australian Heavy Artillery Group) of Granville, NSW. A caretaker prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ascanius (A11) on 25 October 1916. He was wounded in action at Broodseinde, Belgium on 4 October 1917 and died of wounds later that day at the 2nd ANZAC Corps Dressing Station, Belgium, aged 30. He is buried in the Ypres Reservoir Cemetery, Belgium.
