Studio portrait of 2459 Private Gordon Mungomery, 45th Battalion of North Manly, NSW. A machinist prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Anchises (A68) on 24 August 1916. He was wounded in action at Westhoek Ridge, Zonnebeke, Begium on 12 October 1917 and died of wounds at the 3rd Canadian Casualty Clearing Station, Belgium on 13 October 1917, aged 28. He is buried in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium.
