Studio portrait of 2456 Private Archie McWilliam, 53rd Battalion of Granville, NSW. A station hand prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Mashobra (A47) on 14 September 1916. He was killed in action at Polygon Wood, Belgium on 29 September 1917, aged 19. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
