Studio portrait of 311 Private Percy Benedict Russell 18th Battalion of Forest Lodge, NSW. A labourer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 25 June 1915. He was killed in action at Gallipoli, Turkey on 27 August 1915, aged 25. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Lone Pine Memorial, Turkey.
