Studio portrait of 5944 Private (later Corporal) Thomas Ambrose Rustin 18th Battalion of Bourke, NSW. A station hand prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 7 October 1916. He was killed in action at Anzac House near the Menin Road, Belgium on 20 September 1917, aged 38. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
