Studio portrait of 1109 Private (later Trooper) Herbert John Vigors, Camel Corps (later 14th Australian Light Horse) of Granville, NSW. A horse trainer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard RMS Mongolia on 8 July 1916. He was killed in action on 30 September 1918 along the Beriut -Damascus road , Syria, aged 48. He is buried in the Damascus Commonwealth War Cemetery, Syria.
