Description
Studio portrait of 3010 Acting Sergeant (later Private) Harry Walter Bancroft, 18th (later 53rd) Battalion of Burwood, NSW. A printer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Suevic (A29) on 20 December 1916. He was wounded in action on 19 July 1917 at Fromelles, France and died next day at the 14th Field Ambulance Station, France, aged 27. He is buried in Anzac Cemetery, Sailly-Sur-La-Lys, France.
