Studio portrait of 7040 Private Stephen Francis Barber, 19th Battalion of Auburn, NSW. A poultry farmer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Nestor (A71) on 28 February 1918. He was killed in action, aged 28, on 23 July 1918 at Villers-Bretonneux, France by a direct hit on the dug out in the support trenches. He is buried in Anzac Cemetery, Sailly-Sur-La-Lys, France.
