Studio portrait of 2153 Private Henry Ernest Horton, 19th Battalion of Thirroul, NSW. A carpenter prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Argyllshire (A8) on 30 September 1915. He was one of five soldiers killed in action, aged 26, when a shell exploded in a trench near Bois-Grenier, France on 29 May 1916. He is buried in the Brewery Orchard Cemetery, Bois-Grenier, France.
