Studio portrait of 4455 Acting Corporal (later Private) Carlisle Francis Jackson, 20th Battalion of Auburn, NSW. A greengrocer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Nestor (A71) on 9 April 1916. He was killed in action, aged 22, during the German counter stroke at Langnicourt, France on 15 April 1917. He is buried in the Queant Road Cemetery, Buissy, France.
