Studio portrait of 896 Private Edwin Sydney Jones, 18th Battalion of Manly, NSW. A postal assistant prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 25 June 1915. He was killed in action at Gallipoli, Turkey, on 22 August 1915, aged 32. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Lone Pine Memorial, Turkey
