Studio portrait of 5046 Private (later Lance Corporal) Lionel Wallace Landon, 20th (later 35th) Battalion of Auburn, NSW. A goods porter prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ajana (A31) on 5 July 1916. He was killed in action on 22 August 1918 at Bray, Somme Sector, France, aged 25. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
