Studio portrait of 2702 Private Frederick Meads, 53rd Battalion of Auburn, NSW. A labourer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 7 October 1916. He was killed in action on 26 September 1917 at Polygon Wood, Belgium, aged 22. He is buried in the Birr Cross Roads Cemetery, Belgium.
