Studio portrait of 6134 Private William Ernest Reynolds, 17th Battalion of Auburn, NSW. A blacksmith prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ascanius (A11) on 25 October 1916. He was wounded in action on 31 August 1918 at Mont St Quentin, France and died, that day, of his wounds at the 9th Field Ambulance, France, aged 27. He is buried in the Suzanne Military Cemetery No 3, France
