Studio portrait of 3297A Private Jack Edward Swinfield, 17th (later 53rd) Battalion of Auburn, NSW. A plumber prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Suevic (A29) on 20 December 1915. He was killed in action on 19 July 1916 at Fromelles, France, aged 22. He is buried in the VC Corner Australian Cemetery and Memorial, Fromelles, France.
