Studio portrait of 3506 Private (later Sergeant) Arthur Carlson Wolff, 13th Battalion of Auburn, NSW. A blacksmith's assistant prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Port Lincoln (A17) on 13 October 1915. He was killed in action, on 3 May 1918, at Villers-Bretonneux, France, aged 26. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France. Pte Wolff's brother, 7609 Private David Ernest Wolff, (P08624.31) was killed in action on 4 July 1918.
