Studio portrait of 3597 Private Alfred Astridge, 45th Battalion of Lidcombe, NSW. A labourer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Marathon (A74) on 10 May 1917. On 2 April 1918, near Albert, France, he was killed in action, aged 40. He is buried in the Dernancourt Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
