Studio portrait of 3537 Private Leslie James Bugg, 3rd (later 53rd) Battalion of Lidcombe, NSW. An apprentice (plumber) prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Euripides (A14) on 2 November 1915. On 19 July 1916, he was killed in action at Fromelles, France, aged 24. He is buried in the VC Corner Australian Cemetery and Memorial, Fromelles, France.
