Studio portrait of 3033 Private John Clydesdale, 18th (later 3rd) Battalion of Lidcombe, NSW. A cabinetmaker prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Suevic (A29) on 20 December 1915. He died at the aid post, France on 9 August 1918 from wounds received in action during fighting near Lihons, France, aged 26. He is buried in the Villers-Bretonneux Military Cemetery, France.
