Studio portrait of 1156 Private Austin Clifford Collis, 18th Battalion of Lidcombe, NSW. A poultry farmer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 25 June 1915. On 13 May 1918, he was wounded in action (5th occasion) while engaging the enemy in the Ville Sur Ancre Sector, France. Pte Collis was pronounced dead on arrival at the 5th Australian Field Ambulance Dressing Station on 14 May 1918, aged 25. He is buried in the Querrieu British Cemetery, France.
