Studio portrait of 5818 Private Randolf Alfred Lassau, 18th Battalion of Lidcombe, NSW. A musician prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Cermic (A40) on 7 October 1916. He was killed in action, on 3 May 1917, near Bullecourt, France, aged 27. He is buried in the Queant Road Cemetery, Buissy, France. Pte Randolf Lassau is the brother of 6776 Pte Harold Lassau (P08624.356), killed in action on 23 August 1918.
