Studio portrait of 3547 Private Leslie Harold Raward 3rd (later 53rd) Battalion of Guildford, NSW. A mattressmaker prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Euripides (A14) on 2 November 1915. He was wounded in action at Fleurbaix, France, on 17 July 1916 and died later that day at 14 Field Ambulance Station, France, aged 23. He is buried in the Anzac Cemetery, Sailly-sur-la-Lys, France.
