Studio portrait of 6882 Private William Knight, 8th Battalion of Canley Vale, NSW. A butcher prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard SS Port Napier on 17 November 1916. He was wounded in action on 9 August 1918, near Lihons, France, and died, of a gunshot wound to the left thigh, at the 20th Casualty Clearing Station, France, aged 24. He is buried in the Vignacourt British Cemetery, France.
