Studio portrait of 2732 Private Thomas Robson, 53rd Battalion of Darlington, NSW. A linesman prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 7 October 1916. He was wounded in action on 1 September 1918 during fighting at Peronne, France. He was treated in the Kitchener Military Hospital, Brighton, United Kingdom and returned to Australia on the SS Karoola on 31 December 1918. Subsequently, he died of tetanus in the 4th Australian General Hospital, Randwick, Sydney on 30 March 1919, aged 33. He is buried in the Smithfield Methodist Cemetery, New South Wales.
