Studio portrait of 2825 Private Bart Della-Valle, 14th Light Trench Mortar Battery of Wetherill Park, via Fairfield, NSW. A cabinetmaker prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Argyllshire (A8) on 30 September 1915. He was killed in action on 30 July 1918 during the Third Battle of the Somme, France, aged 24. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
