Studio portrait of 2682 Private Percy Thomas Ainsworth, 38th Battalion of Fairfield, NSW. An ironworker prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Benalla (A24) on 9 November 1916. He was wounded in action on 8 June 1917 during the Potteries-Messines, Belgium offensive and died later that day at the 2nd Australian Casualty Clearing Station, France, aged 22. He is buried in the Trois Arbres Cemetery, Steenwerck, France.
