Studio portrait of 4744 Private Fred Gordon Weston Blomfield, 3rd (later 53rd) Battalion of Fairfield, NSW. A fireman prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Star of England (A15) on 8 March 1916. He was killed in action on 19 July 1916 at Fromelles, France, aged 24. He is buried in the VC Corner Australian Cemetery and Memorial, Fromelles, France.
