Studio portrait of 1927 Private (Pte) Clarence Victor Hartigan, 46th Battalion, of Betley, Vic. A labourer prior to enlisting in April 1916. Pte Hartigan embarked from Melbourne with the 3rd Reinforcements aboard HMAT Medic (A7) on 20 May 1916. He was killed in action by a shell explosion at Flers, France, on 20 January 1917. Private Hartigan was 20 years of age.
