Studio portrait of QX1619 Gunner (Gnr) Harry Walter Harte, 2/1 Field Regiment, of Mareeba, Qld. Gnr Harte, a pastoralist prior to enlisting in March 1940, served in the Middle East and died of illness in Palestine on 6 April 1942. He was 36 years of age. Gnr Harte's brother 1003 Private Maurice Atherton Harte served in the first AIF and died of pneumonia in Egypt on 3 January 1916.
