Studio portrait of 2762 Private John Sydney Thornthwaite, 30th Battalion. Private Thornthwaite was wounded in the elbow on 27 November 1916 in France and was hospitalised in England before being repatriated to Australia in July 1917. In October 1917 he was discharged.
