Description
Two officers of the Australian Light Horse and two Australian nursing sisters sailing on the Suez Canal. From left: Lieutenant (Lt) Samuel Vincent Moore, 8th Light Horse Regiment, of Melbourne; Sister Geary; Sister Reeves; Lt Frederick Harden Otton, 1st Light Horse Regiment, of Bega, NSW. A farmer prior to enlisting in September 1914, Lt Moore embarked with the 8th Light Horse Regiment, 25 Reinforcements, from Melbourne on board RMS Karmala on 6 February 1917. He served at Gallipoli and in Egypt. Lt Moore died of wounds on 1 December 1917. He was 23 years of age.
