Studio portrait of 401712 Pilot Officer (PO) Kenneth Septimus McColl, RAAF, 408 Squadron, RCAF. McColl of Westgarth, Vic, enlisted on 28 March 1941. He embarked from Melbourne on 13 June 1941 and was appointed PO on 8 January 1943. PO McColl was killed in air operations over Essen, Germany on 4 April 1943. He has no known grave and is commemorated at Runnymede Memorial, Surrey, England. This image is taken from "The Ivanarian", a magazine of the Ivanhoe Grammar School in Melbourne, Vic. During the Second World War the school honoured "old boys" who had enlisted and died by including a short biographical piece and in many cases a portrait.
