Studio portrait of 409472 Flying Officer (FO) Hugh Lyons Gordon, No. 460 Squadron RAAF, of Melbourne, Vic. He was a barrister and solicitor prior to enlisting in Septemebr 1941 after which he trained as an observer. FO Gordon was a member of the crew of Lancaster EE167 on a bombing run to Oberhausen, Ger many on June 15 1943. EE167 was shot down on this mission and crashed near Schinveld, Holland, killing three (including FO Gordon) of the six crew on board. FO Gordon was 34 years of age at the time of his death.
