Description
Actor Gregory Peck on the set of the Stanley Kramer motion picture 'On The Beach' during filming at Williamstown Naval Dockyard. Peck is standing on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier HMAS Melbourne, an unidentified sailor in the background and actor Anthony Perkins to his left. The RAN gave considerable support to this project. HMAS Melbourne and the submarine HMS Andrew were used in the film, and several scenes were shot at Williamstown over a four day period, with RAN personnel being used as extras.
