Description
Actor Anthony Perkins on the set of the motion picture 'On The Beach' during filming at Williamstown Naval Dockyard. Perkins is standing on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier HMAS Melbourne. Director Stanley Kramer is most likely on the right talking to an unidentified RAN officer. The RAN gave considerable support to this project. The aircraft carrier HMAS Melbourne and the submarine HMS Andrew were used in the film, and several scenes were shot at Williamstown over a four day period, with RAN personnel being used as extras.
