Description
Actor Fred Astaire on the set of the Stanley Kramer motion picture 'On The Beach' during filming at Williamstown Naval Dockyard. The RAN gave considerable support to this project. The aircraft carrier HMAS Melbourne and the submarine HMS Andrew were used in the film, and several scenes were shot at Williamstown over a four day period, with RAN personnel being used as extras.
