Studio portrait of Lieutenant (Lt) Joseph William Costin, 9th Battalion, of Paddington, Qld. An electrical engineer prior to enlistment he embarked from Brisbane on board HMAT Omrah (A5) on 24 September 1914. Lt Costin was killed in action on 25 April 1915, aged 23. He has no known grave and his name is recorded on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.
