Studio portrait of 4688 Private (Pte) Jack William Padley, 16th Battalion, later transferred to 48th Battalion, of Shepparton, Vic. A farmer prior to enlistment he embarked from Fremantle with the 14th Reinforcements aboard HMAT Miltiades (A28) on 12 February 1916. Pte Padley was killed in action on 7 August 1916, aged 30. He has no known grave and his name is recorded on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial.
