In the third row, standing, third from left is 2459 Extra Regimental Corporal (ER/Cpl) William Watt Powell, who was killed in action on 17 April 1918. Written on the back of the photograph by ER/Cpl Powell's sister, Florence Ethel Oatfield: "Poor Will. He loved life and what did he die for?".
