Australian War Memorial, Canberra. Mrs Matsue Matsuo receives from Mr W R Lancaster, Director, Australian War Memorial the senninbari (belt of a thousand stiches) worn by her son, Lieutenant Keiu Matsuo, who lost his life in a Japanese midget submarine during the attack on Sydney Harbour, 31st May 1942. Identified personnel are Mr H Payne, Senior Attendant (in uniform centre rear) Mr J Rutherford, Keeper of Relics (second from right, standing) and Mrs Matsuo's daughter, Mrs Fujie Saeki (right foreground).
