Fraser, James Fitzgerald (Lieutenant, b.1916 - d.1999)
Collection relating to the Second World War service of QX11231 Lieutenant James Fitzgerald Fraser, 2/26th Australian Infantry Battalion, Borneo, 1942-1945.
Collection consists of a notebook that was made by Lieutenant Fraser during the time he spent as a prisoner of war in various camps throughout Borneo. The diary starts with notes on contract law then moves to cover consumer protection law, including notable cases such as the still-used Carlill v Carbolic Smoke Ball Co [1892] 1 QB 256. Also included are pencil-drawn maps of Canada, western Europe, and a broader map of Europe. Other materials used in the construction of the notebook include scrap paper from other prisoners' mail, torn up envelopes (divided in two halves), and flattened paper cigarette packets.
