Studio portrait of of 8/3030 Private (Pte) John Thomas (Jack) Ottrey, 1st Battalion Otago Regiment (right) and an unidentified soldier. Pte Ottrey was killed in action in France on 27 September 1916. He was 27 years of age. Pte Ottrey's brother, 2225 Pte Harold George Ottrey, 60th Battalion, AIF, was killed in action in Belgium on 25 September 1917.
