Studio portrait of 405083 Aircraftman (AC), later Warrant Officer (WO) Harold Arthur Miller of Lindendale, NSW. An audit clerk prior to enlistment, he completed his training and embarked for the United Kingdom on 13 December 1941. He was assigned to the newly formed 461 Squadron RAAF at Mount Batten on 28 April 1942. In 1943 this squadron commenced operations against German submarines in the Bay of Biscay, and it was on one such operation that his aircraft went missing. WO Miller was declared Presumed Dead on 13 August 1943. His name is recorded at the Air Forces Memorial at Runnymede.
