Description
Cattapan has conveyed a sense of stillness in this work, a moment of quiet contemplation and reflection for the soldiers after patrol. They appear isolated, as if floating, drifting in time and space, disconnected from the immediate realities around them.
This image is based on a photograph of two soldiers seated in an unloading bay, the area where soldiers returning from patrol unload the ammunition left in the chambers of their weapons. A buddy system is employed as they double-check each other's weapons.
