Studio portrait of 427095 Flying Officer (FO) John James Oliver Hume, 21 Squadron RAAF, of Fremantle, WA. He enlisted from Perth on 20 May 1942. FO Hume died on operations co-piloting a Liberator (B-24L) A72-92 which crashed after being attacked by Japanese anti-aircraft fire over the Celebes, East Indies, on 27 July 1945. Nine of the twelve were killed in the crash and three survived but were captured by the Japanese and executed.
