Studio portrait of 3995 Pte Murray William Sharpe, 1st Battalion, of Leichhardt, NSW, husband of Ethel. L. Sharpe, Penshurst, NSW. A horse driver prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard RMS Mooltan on 11 December 1915. He was killed in action at Pozieres, France on 22 July 1916, aged 24. He was buried in the vicinity of Pozieres but post war his grave was not found. He is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
