Studio portrait of 213 Pte Stewart Ottery Harding (alias John Donnelly), 19th Battalion, of Bourke, NSW, son of Henry (dec) and Mary Annie Harding of Stanmore, Sydney, NSW. A labourer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 25 June 1915. He was killed in action at Pozieres, France on 2 August 1916, aged 27. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
