Description
Studio portrait of 3816 Pte Alfred Edward Richards, 1st Battalion, of Surry Hills,Sydney, NSW, son of Lillian Gay Brooks (formerly Richards), and the late Christopher Richards. A labourer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard RMS Mooltan on 11 December 1915. He was killed in action at Pozieres, France on 26 July 1916, aged 28. He was buried in the vicinity of Pozieres, France. Post war his grave was not found and he is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
