Description
The Mk IV Female tank, known as 'GRIT', on the last leg of its journey to the Australian War Memorial (AWM). The tank arrived by rail from Melbourne and was towed from Canberra station to the AWM by four trucks from Government Transport. The convoy is seen here stopped somewhere along Constitution Avenue with the wooded City Hill visible at right. The nine mile journey was completed in two hours and 20 minutes.
